The DC resistance was tested at about 800 ohms per pair – well within spec, so the Ethernet routers were connected up and as if by magic a link speed of almost 3 Mbs was negotiated between them – much faster than necessary to carry my 512Kbs broadband signal.
With rather good timing, BT activated broadband on the phone line just a couple of days after we finished laying the cable and quite amazingly, the whole thing worked!
